What is AI-enhanced audio?
AI-enhanced audio uses Google AI to automatically reduce background noise and enhance voice clarity for both you and the person you’re calling. Learn more in the Help Center.
Which calls are eligible for AI-enhanced audio?
Eligible calls include international calls or calls with people using landlines or older phones. Other calls will benefit from other call quality enhancement features that Google Fi offers, such as HD calling.
Does the person I’m talking to need to be on the same network or have a specific phone?
No. The feature works for all eligible calls, even when the person you’re talking to is on another network, a landline, or an older device.
How do I turn it on?
You don’t have to. It’s automatically enabled for eligible calls.
Can I turn it off?
Yes. While it's designed to work seamlessly in the background, you can disable it from Settings in the Google Fi app at any time.
How will I know AI-enhanced audio is working?
If you’re using Phone by Google on an Android device, you’ll see a label on the in-call display when the AI-enhanced audio is active during a call. Other Android users will also see a silent drop-down notification during the call. iPhone® users will not see any in-call display or notification, but can change the feature settings anytime in the Google Fi app.
How is AI-enhanced audio different from Pixel Clear Calling?
Unlike Pixel Clear Calling, which is limited to select Pixel phones, AI-enhanced audio is available to all Google Fi users—including calls made on phones, tablets, and computers—regardless of their primary phone model.
