Can I keep my current phone number?
How do I transfer my phone number to Google Fi Wireless?
Sign up for Google Fi Wireless and indicate that you want to transfer a phone number. This lets us know that you plan to use your own number, but it will not start the transfer process. Do not cancel service on your previous carrier until your number has transferred to Google Fi Wireless or you may lose the phone number.
To start the transfer process, download the Google Fi Wireless app and sign in. The app will guide you through the process of transferring your phone number. Number transfers typically take 20 minutes to complete. When the transfer is complete, you will receive a notification on your phone. For more details, visit our Help Center.
How long will it take to get service?
Most devices can get service within an hour. Just sign up for Google Fi Wireless and download our app. The app will guide you through the simple and quick setup process.
The majority of newer phones connect to the Google Fi Wireless network with an eSIM and no physical SIM card is required. If you are on a phone that does not support eSIM, you'll have the option to get a free SIM card shipped to you during sign up.
Can I bring a phone or do I have to buy a new one?
Most newer phones work on Google Fi Wireless. You can use our compatibility checker to confirm if your device is supported. Most phones can connect to the network instantly with an eSIM via the Google Fi Wireless app. The app will walk you through the process of downloading an eSIM. If you are on a phone that does not support eSIM, you'll have the option to get a free SIM card shipped to you during sign up in the Google Fi Wireless app.

How do I switch to a new device?
Download the Google Fi Wireless app on your new device, sign in, and click "Transfer service." You will receive an email confirmation of a request to transfer service to your new device.
We recommend restarting your old device after the transfer is complete to ensure that no apps or services continue to use your phone number on that device.

You can use Google Fi Wireless on compatible tablets and smartwatches.
Tablets
Google Fi Wireless lets you easily connect cellular-enabled tablets at no extra cost with data-only SIMs - no hotspot or additional data plan required. If you have the Flexible plan or Unlimited Premium plan, you can connect a tablet by going to your account page under “Manage plan” and either scanning a QR code to activate a data-only eSIM, or ordering a data-only SIM card. Smartwatches
Google Fi Wireless supports calling, texting, and data on compatible smartwatches at no extra charge. If your watch is not compatible with Google Fi Wireless for cellular connectivity, check your manufacturer website for instructions on connecting your watch to your phone via Bluetooth.
